This industrial thesis project with [Synapse Medicine](https://synapse-medicine.com/) follows the work started as a research engineer within the [ERIAS](https://www.bordeaux-population-health.center/les-equipes/equipe-de-recherche-en-informatique-appliquee-a-la-sante-erias/) INSERM U1219 team on [_DRUGSSAFE_](https://drugssafe.fr/) funding at the University of Bordeaux.

In order to integrate or combine existing data, it is sometimes necessary to go back to their initial conceptual schemes. Physical models are actually not as reusable as their conceptual models that defined them in the first place.
Those conceptual representations can be described as RDF-Like (Resource Description Framework [**RDF**](https://www.w3.org/TR/rdf11-concepts/)) schemes in the form of Semantic Knowledge Resources (SKR) based on triples.
Any RDF resource may have been defined for a particular purpose such as the representation of a more or less formal domain, including hierarchies between terms or more formal definitions within ontological resources.
Biomedical vocabularies are known to help an Information System (IS) data integration as they are based on standard representations. But even by using standards, there are still some heterogeneity when one wants to use them together (level of formalism, syntax, granularity, versions, etc.) which does not facilitate much the integration and secondary use of the sources they may annotate. As these KRs are used to represent concrete data sources, following the [**FAIR**](https://www.go-fair.org/fair-principles/) principles, it seems obvious to gather these KR through some kind of correspondences.
Even if RDF extensions exist for handling ontologies with the Web Ontology Language [**OWL**](https://www.w3.org/TR/owl-ref/) or terminologies with the Simple Knowledge Organisation System [**SKOS**](https://www.w3.org/TR/skos-reference/) , a great number of projects focusing on their management don’t facilitate their conjoint agnostic integration.
Along with the well-known NCBO [Bioportal](https://bioportal.bioontology.org/) and its derivatives, projects that handle termino-ontological resources provide some repository for persisting, browsing and information retrieval purposes.
Unfortunately their import procedures, although based on standards, are for the most part not methods keeping the initial semantics of the resources.
