+# Local terminology

+## CIS - CIP - UCD definition:
+*  CIS: code identifying a drug approved by French National Agency (ANSM) to be sold in France. 
+*  CIP: code for packaging, drugs sold in pharmacies
+*  UCD: code identifying a drug at the hospital
+
+Each CIP and UCD code is linked to a CIS code. 
+For example: 
+*  CIS 69170898: cefpodoxime sandoz enfants et nourrissons 40 mg/5 ml, poudre pour suspension buvable
+The summary of product characteristics is available at: 
+http://base-donnees-publique.medicaments.gouv.fr/extrait.php?specid=69170898
+*  CIP: 3874981 (1 bottle of 50ml) and 3874998 (1 bottle of 100ml)
+*  UCD: 3400893213322 (1 bottle of 50ml) and 3400893213261 (1 bottle of 100ml)
+
+To compare with RxNorm, CIS represents Branded_Drug or Clinical_Drug. CIP represents marketed_drug. UCD represents marketed_drug (for injectable products) or Branded_Drug or Clinical_Drug (for oral tablets).
